Terms of Use

Last updated: 7 July 2026

The short version

You get a personal license to use SteelNote. Your notes stay yours. Purchases go through Apple. We provide the app as it is and work hard on reliability, but you should keep your own backups. The full text below governs if anything is unclear.

Agreement

These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) govern your use of the SteelNote app and the website steelnoteapp.com, provided by an independent developer based in France (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using SteelNote, you agree to these Terms. Your use is also subject to Apple’s Standard License Agreement for apps bought on the App Store; where the two differ, the stricter protection for you applies.

Your license

We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use SteelNote on the Apple devices you own or control, in line with the App Store terms. You may not copy, resell, redistribute, or reverse-engineer the app except where the law expressly permits it.

Trial, subscription and purchases

Your content is yours

You own the notes and content you create in SteelNote. We claim no rights over them and cannot access them; they are plain files stored on your devices and in your own iCloud. You are responsible for your content and for keeping your own backups. Because your notes are ordinary files, you can copy or export them at any time.

Acceptable use

Use SteelNote lawfully. Do not use it to store or share content that infringes others’ rights or breaks the law, and do not attempt to disrupt, misuse, or gain unauthorized access to the app or its services.

Reliability and backups

We put real care into keeping SteelNote fast and dependable, but no software is perfect. Sync depends on Apple’s iCloud and on your network and device. Keep your own backups of anything important; since your notes are plain files, that is easy to do.

Provided “as is”

SteelNote is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from data loss.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of SteelNote. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, and your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.

Changes

We may update the app and these Terms over time. When we change the Terms, we will update this page and the date above. Continuing to use SteelNote after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of France, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence.
